M-KOPA COVID-19 RESPONSE

We know M-KOPA customers are feeling the impact of COVID-19 with limitations on their daily activities, extra responsibilities like educating children at home, and financial difficulties from reduced income or job loss. We have been listening to our customers since the early days of the pandemic to understand their realities and how we can best support them. In response, we designed a package of support to customers who have been hard hit, including:

Expanded eligibility for top up loans so that customers can:

  • Qualify sooner: within 30 days of starting their loan
  • Borrow often: qualify to borrow 1 credit for every 2 credits they purchase
  • Borrow more: borrow 15 days of credit at once
Free delivery for all solar system upgrades. This helps customers get the latest M-KOPA upgrade without traveling, keeping our customers and service center team members safer

Hospicash and life insurance available to qualifying customers and covering up to five members of a family

Relaxed re-connection requirements so defaulting customers only need to pay one credit to get re-connected
We know COVID-19 also brings risk, uncertainty, and anxiety to our M-KOPA team members, especially those who work in the field and are most vulnerable to the health and economic risks. We’ve responded by coming together as an M-KOPA family and showing our support for one another. Through a combination of employee and company contributions, we have raised over $250,000 for a COVID-19 relief fund to support our teammates most affected by COVID. Uses of this fund include:
  • Hospicash and life insurance for sales representatives and field technicians
  • Income relief for sales agents who have been unable to sell due to lockdowns or quarantine requirements; and
  • A staff healthcare fund to support employees who require advanced medical treatment not covered by health insurance
M-KOPA has continued to be fully operational throughout the pandemic providing uninterrupted service during a period of prolonged public health restrictions. As a result, we have seen steady demand for our products.
